Huanggang Port 24-hour immigration clearance arrangement

The new Huanggang Port opened at 6:30 am on 12 October 2026, with immigration clearance for passengers and passenger vehicles available 24 hours a day. The travel inspection services at the old Shenzhen Huanggang Temporary Passenger Inspection Building and Hong Kong's Lok Ma Chau Control Point have been suspended. The old "Wongbus" route to the old Lok Ma Chau Control Point or San Tin Interchange is no longer applicable.

The new port adopts the "co-location, two inspections" arrangement. Registered and qualified passengers can use the "cooperative inspection, one-time release" self-service channel, queue once and present their documents once to go through immigration formalities between the two places; those who are not eligible or have not registered can use the manual counters. Even if you use the self-service lane, you must still bring valid travel documents that meet the requirements of both places.

Late-night return transportation at Huanggang Port

  • The port operates 24 hours a day, but local connections in Hong Kong include daytime, overnight and designated day services.
  • If you are returning to Hong Kong late at night, you can first check the actual departure times and boarding locations of NB73, 79S, N44B, 616S or short-distance cross-border buses.
  • Certain intermediate stops for night cross-border buses may not stop at all times; do not rely solely on the route name to judge.
  • If you plan to take a taxi, there are urban and New Territories taxi stations at the port; to reserve a fleet taxi, you must follow the on-site instructions to the designated waiting area. There is no public parking lot at the port.
  • Have a backup plan for returning to Hong Kong. Allow time for queues, immigration clearance and walking between stops.

How to register for cooperative inspection at Huanggang Port

The Immigration Department announced that eligible Hong Kong residents can register through the "Hong Kong e-Channel" mobile application, or at the designated registration office or self-service kiosk at Huanggang Port. Some people over the age of 18 can register and go through immigration formalities at the self-service channel at the same time; eligible people aged 7 to 17 must register on their behalf through their parents or legal guardians. The qualifications and registration procedures for different types of documents are different. Please read the latest instructions from the Immigration Department first.

Passengers must still carry valid travel documents with them. Those who are not registered, do not meet the qualifications, or are in need can use the manual counter. The actual passage arrangements are subject to on-site instructions.
